Caregiver Support
Caregiver Support
Moyo Mzuri supports caregivers with livelihoods, savings groups, Goat-of-Hope initiatives, farming, skills training, and small business pathways.
Caregiver Support Programme
Strong caregivers create stronger futures.
Behind every resilient child is a caregiver doing everything they can to keep going. Moyo Mzuri supports caregivers with practical livelihood pathways that reduce pressure at home.
The barrier
In rural Uganda, caregiving strength often comes at a cost. Households caring for a person with a disability spend nearly 39% more each month, according to the 2020 UBOS Situational Analysis of Persons with Disabilities.
That pressure can force impossible choices between food, school, transport, therapy, and daily care. Caregiver support is therefore not separate from child support. It is one of the most practical ways to protect a child’s future.
How Moyo Mzuri responds
Moyo Mzuri works alongside caregivers to build stable and sustainable livelihoods that reduce financial pressure and strengthen the whole household.
- Farming and agribusiness support, including seeds.
- Goat-of-Hope initiatives that help families build assets.
- Village Savings and Loan Associations for financial resilience.
- Skills training in practical trades such as tailoring, baking, and hairdressing.
- Small business support where resources allow.
Why livelihood support matters
When caregivers can grow food, raise livestock, save money, or earn income, household pressure reduces. Children are more likely to stay in school, attend appointments, eat consistently, and receive patient day-to-day support.
The outcome
The programme helps replace survival with stability and struggle with opportunity. A supported caregiver can better support a child.
